8-11 august 2025

Retreat residency with a focus on environmentalism at a beach house directly on the ocean in Gibsons, BC (about 1 hour from Vancouver)

This residency offers the opportunity to share student research, host workshops, and have guest practitioners in arts research also host sessions. Located a 15 minute walk from town, the house is right on the ocean on a semi-private beach surrounded by ocean with forest walks accessible on foot. There is access to paddle boats, swimming, an outdoor bathtub, a large patio and large grass area. We will cook communal meals, enjoy nature, and share artistic research together. Due to the location, a loose theme to the retreat will be environmentalism.

There are a number of artist-run spaces within walking distance from there, and we will have the opportunity to visit and potentially get a talk with artists/curators in these spaces. This will be discussed at the orientation.

Further information about location, housing and transportation will be shared with an open session for questions.

For more information and to register, please be in touch with Britta. Registration is due by 23 July.
