PREFLIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS 2025
The Institute awards early applicants a three-month jump on their studies in the Preflight Academy. With a dedicated advisor, you may refine your proposal, develop your critical vocabulary, acclimate and pace yourself and create relationships with current students, faculty, and incoming peers beginning in February.
You will participate in a creative research crash course, meet monthly with your advisor to get detailed feedback on your work and participate in regular discussions with your peer critique and research group.

December 15: PhD admission with optional 3-month tuition-free scholarship) in time to attend the Nairobi residency.
January 15: Final PhD admission with optional 3-month tuition-free scholarship.
February 1 - May 1: Preflight Scholarship period
March 15: PhD admissions applications due
March 15: TT Academy PhD Preflight Explorer applications due
MFA applications are closed.
A maximum of ten places will be available in each program.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis.

For US-based students: Unfortunately, our programs are not eligible for FAFSA/Federal Loans. We do accept from Sallie Mae. Please confirm that you have been accepted for a Sallie Mae before continuing in the registration process by emailing a confirmation of your loan approval to tuition@transartinstitute.org. You must be a US student to be approved for a Sallie Mae Loan.

For Canada-based students: Our programs can accept Canadian Student Loans and Grants. You can apply through your provincial or territorial student aid office. During the application process, you will need to send forms requiring institutional completion to tuition@transartinstitute.org. Please be proactive and find out what is required of Transart and LJMU.
